Some of Our Favorite Things About Fall

September 10, 2015

The return of fall brings all the familiar joys…sweaters and sumptuous layers, Pumpkin Spice latte, and family gatherings around the holiday tablescapes. The coziness of rainy days indoors, the fiery colors of autumn leaves, the ever-present smell of wood smoke…all of these are beautiful things to get excited about this season. This autumn, we’ve added a few more reasons to the list, so check out what we love about fall below!

Festi-Fall Season

Feeling festive? With the lineup of fall festivals happening across the country, your chance to tap into that communal soirée spirit has come! Whether it’s the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the New York City Wine and Food Festival, the Miami Art Basel, Kansas’ famous Neewollah Carnival, or Pennsylvania’s quirky (but delicious!) Baconfest, this is a season to celebrate.

These Boots Are Made for Walkin’

It’s no secret that runway styles don’t always play to the practical, especially when it comes to footwear, but this season, we’re happy to note, boots are back! Whether it’s a functional snow boot, or a more flamboyant thigh-high, cold weather comfort and runway style both win! This season’s boots are made for walking…and they’ve walked off the runway and into our closets. Here are some of our favorites.

A novel concept

As much as we love the perfect rainy day scenario—one involving a soft sweater, a couch, and a good book—chances are those hours of cozy, bookish bliss are hard to come by. Luckily, audiobooks are making a massive comeback, allowing us to immerse ourselves in great literature while facing a busy day! Incredible websites like Audible.com have millions of books recorded by Colin Firth, Kate Winslet, and Tina Fey, to name a few. This fall, get your literature to go!

Forget football, it’s movie season!

Whether you’re into spies or social justice, sci-fi or romance, there are plenty of movies to look forward to this fall. Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan star in the historical drama, Suffragette. Harrison Ford makes a return in the much-anticipated Star Wars reboot, and Daniel Craig will reprise the title role in his penultimate Bond film, Spectre, and power duo (and real-life best friends) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler play siblings in the pull-no-punches comedy, Sisters.

Sugar & spice…

The flavors of fall are always delicious…pumpkin and touches of maple are seemingly found on every table and menu (not that we’re complaining!). While these standbys are delicious, we love these creative taste trends for fall: lots of nuts and spices! So whether it’s a sriracha-spiced chai or an almond-turmeric latte, a cocoa-pumpkin smoothie, or sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon, walnuts, and cloves, there’s no end to the flavor fun!

Cape Craze

With its warmth, versatility, and incredible layering ability, we are in love with capes this fall! The cape was a staple of the runway at Paris Fashion Week – long and short, patterned and plain, soft and structured—it’s a gorgeous and wearable trend, and cabi has created its very own: the marvelous Gigi Cape! We love it with a high-waisted skirt, tailored slacks, or even a simple pair of jeans. Be sure to lend a dash of drama with a cape this fall! Get more styling ideas here.
