diy halloween costume ideas that are more treat than trick

October 19, 2017

We can’t help but be captivated by the spirit of Halloween. Not the ghoulishness, the trick-or-treating, or the candy, but the freedom and excitement that comes from dressing up. That being said, we’re not too thrilled with the out-of-the-box options these days—they’re cheaply made and take all the creativity out of the process. So, we put together a couple DIY Halloween costume ideas that are not only super cute, but are comprised of fall closet staples you’ll restyle and wear for seasons to come.

Leopard

We’re wild about the leopard trend this fall, even wearing it head-to-toe. Rock this look at work, then add ears and a tail to go from desk to dinner—even if dinner is just candy!

Cowgirl

This laid-back country vibe is perfect for a super chill Sunday, but for one night a year, you can pair this look back to cowboy boots and a 10-gallon hat…and go get your honky-tonk on!

Mary Poppins

Channel your inner Mary Poppins by adding a few key details—bow-tie, bowler hat, umbrella—to this chic, wear-everywhere look. Bonus points if you get the whole family on board.

If you’ve got a closet full of cabi and an open mind, we want your help putting together some extra DIY options built around pieces from our Collections, past and present! Leave your ideas below, or if you followed our advice from last season’s Halloween post and have a picture of yourself as Rosie the Riveter, Audrey Hepburn, or Olive Oyl, post it to Instagram @cabiclothing.
