spring outerwear: winter edition

February 16, 2017

Although winter is in full swing, we’re so ready to be done with the slush, ice, freezing wind, and of course our trusty puffer jacket. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that styling for those months in between seasons (March, we’re looking at you!) is way harder than it seems. No longer winter, but certainly not yet spring, the bold florals and bright hues of a new wardrobe can seem, well, premature. After all, it’s still pretty darn cold and probably raining. Which is exactly why it’s the perfect moment to talk about spring outerwear! Lightweight enough in case the sun decides to shine, but still rocking that layered winter vibe. So that’s why tapped into the ultra-stylish Belle de Couture to style one outfit for each of our three favorite fall into spring jackets!

“The first thing that comes to mind when I think of spring fashion is color! Nothing brightens my winter wardrobe more than a colorful piece, and a fun statement jacket is ideal for transitioning those winter faves into spring. I chose to pair the Field Jacket with the Bistro Tee because I never pass up the chance to mix prints. It’s just too fun! When I’m in a rush and can’t find an outfit to wear, a statement jacket with a great pair of denim is always my go-to. It’s no fuss, but still polished and put together. I finished the look with the Rope Duo Necklace (because a choker is the perfect way to add a bit of edge to any look), and the Athena Sandal, because a chic sandal is a must-have for any spring look!”

“Nothing says classic-chic quite like a trench coat and this striped Maritime Trench hits all the marks. It’s lightweight soft fabric makes it an ideal option for spring, and the flattering feminine fit sets it apart from other trench coats. I love the nautical vibe the navy stripes give off and when paired with The Hutton, the look is the epitome of American prep. I also really love the flattering fit of these pants; comfortable and relaxed, but slim and tapered at the leg. I wanted to pair this look with a top that wouldn’t get lost beneath the trench, so I opted for this pretty Prudence Top. The lace fabric and scalloped hem add a pretty feminine touch to this overall structured look and the crisp white color is so fresh for spring! For accessories, I went with the Lock & Key Bracelet because its antique look pairs well with these classic pieces, and my vintage Gucci bag could not have been more perfect with its matching navy blue and red.”

“A denim jacket is a must for any gal’s wardrobe and it can be paired with just about anything in your closet. The Locomotive Jacket has unique details like the washed stripes which give off a vintage vibe and the cotton-stretch denim with the cinched waist makes it both comfortable and flattering. It’s also lightweight compared to most denim jackets, so it’s ideal for the spring and summer months. Denim jackets always give off a “borrowed from the boys” vibe for me, so I love to juxtapose that with girly pieces like dresses and skirts. The Flirt Skirt was an immediate go-to for me and really played into the vibe I was going for with its floral print and chiffon fabric. I reached for the Gossamer Pullover because it’s also lightweight and perfect for layering! I completed my look with some hi-top sneakers, which helped to anchor my tomboy-chic vibe that I was going for. The St. Tropez Earrings and St. Tropez Necklace were the perfect pops of color and paired well with the colors in the skirt.”

There you have it—three fabulous ways to rock that transitional look. While we love what , we want to know what outfit you think could work with all three jackets. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
