how to mix prints and stripes

September 1, 2020

If you’re a devoted cabi follower, then you know we’ve been singing the praises of print-mixing since the very beginning. And, we keep finding fresh and new ways to do it. So today, we’re teaching you how to mix prints and stripes. It’s no wonder plaids and stripes go so well together, seeing that plaids are made up of stripes—they’re a match made in heaven! The Fall 2020 Collection has a stunning selection of both of these prints, and our print-mixing minds got right to work with styling them together. Keep reading to see the different looks we came up with and learn a few of our style tips and tricks.

Black and white is an irresistible combination…just like this printed ensemble! Keep it simple and style the Houndstooth Jacket back to the matching Houndstooth Trouser. Then, add the Devoted Blouse for a mesmerizing mix of prints and a contrasting shoe for a pop of color.

This teal outfit pairs the thin-striped Groove Tee back to the micro-plaid textured Lennon Jacket. Balance the look with a classic pair of jeans and some chunky boots. For an understated look, make sure that the two patterns are around the same size. If you have a smaller stripe, go for a smaller check pattern.

Dress up a casual look by adding a statement piece, like a bold coat with fringe accents. This Golden Rule ensemble pairs the yellow striped Liner Tank back to a black denim and a matching yellow bootie. The Regency Coat tops things off with its plaid print and fringe-tastic design.

Source your stripes from a sweater knit as opposed to a print to add dimension to a look. The striped cable knit of the Slant Pocket Cardigan plays off the ruffle details on the Cake Ruffle Blouse for an intriguing mix of textures. Style back to the Slim Boyfriend and some classy loafers.
