A girl can never have too many shoes, but short of repurposing our cabinets, drawers, or even our ovens (we’ve seen it done!), there’s simply not enough room for the shoe collection of our dreams. That’s why we sat down and created this simple, three-shoe guide to getting maximum style (and versatility!) out of these spring shoes.
Booties are the it-shoe right now. We love them year-round, paired with a dress for a cool, downtown vibe. Rock them casually with a crop to showcase the whole bootie, or try dressing them up for a hip, fashion-forward take. Pro tip: choose a bootie with fringe this spring for a little bit of extra sass.
Another shoe that can have a heel or be a sandal. The gladiator shoe has an ancient Greek vibe…but updated for the modern era. We’re loving both the artisanal look—think handmade sandals from the island of Capri (it’s what they’re known for)—and the high-fashion uber-strappy lacy heel. Both of these looks feel fresh right now.
The espadrille is such a classic—the style dates back to the 14th century, and there’s a reason it’s stuck around for so long (it works!). The rope sole speaks to summer and is so versatile when worn as either flats or wedge heels (as started by Yves Saint Laurent), and with or without laces. They are all-important for your wardrobe and look stunning with pretty much everything.
