Blazing rays of sun, ice cold lemonade, blooming sunflowers. Yellow is the most quintessential color of summer. And there’s no better way to revel in the joy that is summertime than wearing yellow clothing! We know yellow can seem like a risky color (we don’t know how it ever got this rap), but before you write this adventurous color off…know there’s a broad spectrum of shades that fall into this category: from pastel mellows to muted mustards and vibrant canary yellows, there’s a shade that’s right for everyone—trust us!
Wearing yellow is like an instant energy booster, which is why it largely makes up our Wear a Smile trend. The Spring 2020 Collection is full of different yellow hues to help brighten your day, and while we could go on and on about all the wonderful ways to style this color, we decided to turn to a few of our Stylists to see how they’re wearing yellow this season. Keep reading to learn about all the yellow pieces in the Collection, and check out the stunning outfits our Stylists created with them!
Stylist Hieu is glowing in her sunny outfit, featuring this season’s Sunshine Cami, an easy-fitting halter top with a self-tie closure at the neckline. She styled her look back to denim and topped it all off with the outer layer of the Daisy Dress worn as a fabulous duster.
When it comes to innovative color schemes, our Stylist Ally is a real pro. For her yellow look, she styled a navy and white palette with the Sunny Sweater for a pop of color. This cropped, boxy-fitting cardigan features relaxed sleeves, giving this lightweight knit topper a gentle swing. Ally’s final look matches the Bow Kitten Heel to a tee!
Great minds think alike. Another one of our fabulous Stylists, Cassidy went a similar route as Ally, styling a navy and white nautical look with the Daisy Tee, a yellow and white striped tee with a scoop neckline and delicate, flutter sleeves. She paired the all-white Lido Crop with the El Capitan Cardigan and some pumps to match. We don’t know about you but we’re taking notes…
Sheri channeled a favorite summer beverage for her look: pink lemonade! The pink and yellow floral Front Porch Top features a sleeveless design with a V-neckline and pairs perfectly back to the Grace Blazer. Cropped white bottoms help balance the palette…and give Sheri the chance to show off her strappy yellow sandals!
Our Stylist Barb knows how to wear a showstopper top like the Reef Knot Blouse as a low-effort, high-impact way to style a summer look. The long-sleeved Reef Knot Blouse does all the work for you with its rope pattern, bright yellow hue, and unique bow tie closure at the neckline. Pair back to white denim, have fun with your accessories, and you’re set!
The Couple Cami blends our two favorite patterns, florals and leopard print! With adjustable straps and a scoop neckline, this mustard ground, easy-fitting cami will be your go-to all season long. Cheena styled her look back to wide-legged, cropped bottoms and the long, drapey Dashes Sweater to play with proportions. She finished off her look with matching yellow block heels.
Emilie is an expert at incorporating yellow into her wardrobe. Her outfit features the bohemian Gather Blouse, an oversized top designed in a marigold print with billowy raglan sleeves. She went with a front-tuck into the Trouser Jean to show off her belt and completed her look with a heeled sandal. Now that’s how you dress up a pair of jeans.
Who doesn’t love a one-and-done outfit in the summer? No one. And our Stylist, Maeve knows that the Lemon Drop Dress is the perfect pick for effortless style with its slim-fitting, A-line design and self-tie belt at the waist. The unique color palette combines a yellow ground with a blue floral print for an eye-catching effect. Pair this stand-alone piece with a matching sandal and coordinated jewelry, and you’re good to go.
We always learn so much from our Stylists! They have an endless wealth of knowledge, especially when it comes to styling with color.
