THE cabi BLOG

crunch time

April 7, 2016

In 1930 the famous economist John Maynard Keynes predicted that in the future we would work no more than 15 hours a week. He may not have been able to foresee the beauty of being a cabi girl, but he was onto something! Today, more women than ever are looking for a career that will let them put first things first without sacrificing any of their big ambitions. That can mean cramming a lot into a week that is still exactly the same number of hours as it always was. Luckily, each and every one of us has the best tool available for staying organized and saving time: our phones! Here are a few apps we love for making the most of your workweek.

Trello is a powerful yet simple project management tool. An intuitive interface allows you to create different boards—errands, work tasks, completed—and then place cards within those boards—buy shampoo, reach out to a Hostess, etc. When you finish a task, simply slide a card onto the completed board, and then move onto the next thing!

Power lunches? Yeah, right! We can’t even remember when we last had time to luxuriate over a two-hour meal. And doing it the old fashioned way—shopping, cooking, cleaning—isn’t terribly efficient either. Enter Door Dash! The app partners with all your favorite local restaurants and puts them at your fingertips. With fast delivery in under an hour and no minimum order size, it’s the perfect app for getting something quick and delicious.

Hitching a ride has never been easier (or cheaper!). Available pretty much everywhere, this app is our go-to for getting from point A to point B without breaking the bank. We especially love this app for our cabi Girls living in cities—we all know parking can be a nightmare, so why drive in circles wasting precious time? Pro tip: if you’re not in a huge rush, try Uber Pool, where you share rides with others, and score them for up to 50% less than uberX.

The beauty of Task Rabbit is that they’re ready, willing, and able to help no matter the task. Simply go online or download it on your phone, and pick from popular tasks, like cleaning and handyman services. You can also invent a task of your own, and get quotes. Let your imagination run wild…

Artificial intelligence has a long way to go before it feels human, but there is one web app has done an impressive job of applying this technology to create a virtual personal assistant named Amy. X.ai syncs up with your email and calendar to do all the tedious back and forth that comes along with scheduling a meeting. Simply cc Amy, and she’ll handle the rest!

Those are our favorites, but we’d love to hear what apps you use to save time in your busy life. Leave us a comment and tell us why you love it!
