THE cabi BLOG

happy international women’s day!

March 7, 2019

From all of us here at cabi, we want to wish you an empowered International Women’s Day. This holiday has special meaning for cabi. As a company for women, by women, the values we celebrate on this day—values of supporting and uplifting women—touch the very core of what we believe in and what we strive for.

The History of International Women’s Day
A century ago, the first National Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States as a display of solidarity with garment workers striking for better working conditions. In the time since, the holiday has grown to encompass an ever-widening audience, becoming an international holiday recognized by the United Nations and celebrated around the world. Every year, the organization behind International Women’s Day provides a theme, and this year’s theme, #BalanceForBetter, asks us all to help build a more gender-balanced world.

As we recognize this day, we’re inspired by our Stylists whose stories touch our hearts and echo this year’s theme. Through cabi, these women found a path to build careers and live the lives they’ve always wanted, embodying principles we hold most dear: we are empowered when we empower each other.

Strike a Pose and Fund a Small Business Loan
How can you get involved? We’ve got a challenge for you! This year, the organizers of International Women’s Day are asking people everywhere to show their support by striking the #BalanceforBetter pose. We’re taking this call to action a step further and turning it into a fun challenge!

#cabiIWDchallenge

1. Take a photo striking the #BalanceforBetter pose.

2. Share your photo on Instagram with a caption about how you’ve been empowered by other women.

3. Add these 2 hashtags to your caption: #BalanceforBetter #cabiIWDChallenge

For every photo shared using all 3 hashtags above, The Heart of cabi Foundation will donate $1 USD to fund a small business loan through Opportunity International.

5,400 photos shared = 30 small business loans for women
